As much as we like patients to visit our office for their dental care, the best way to prevent tooth decay is to develop good oral hygiene at home. To remove the majority of food debris and plaque, Dr. Jun H Chung recommends brushing your teeth twice a day—especially at night before going to bed. Good brushing habits include brushing the inner, outer, and chewing surfaces of each tooth. Also use the tip of the toothbrush to clean the behind the back molars and the inside of the front teeth. Electric toothbrushes are very effective at cleaning your smile, and Lansdowne Dental Arts endorses them, but you will still want to make sure you practice all of the same brushing habits as you would with a manual toothbrush.

As a supplement to brushing, Dr. Jun H Chung encourages patients to floss every day. Our dentist knows that this is the easiest way to clean in between teeth and promote healthy gums. Flossing removes stuck food and breaks up the plaque that is harmful to your teeth, gums, and jaw. At Lansdowne Dental Arts, we also encourage the use of mouthwashes, tongue cleaners, fluoride treatments, and much more.

Dr. Jun H Chung and the rest of our team at Lansdowne Dental Arts would love to teach you more about how to take care of your smile and keep it looking healthy. Call our office today to learn more about dental hygiene in Leesburg, Virginia.
